Cedar Park, Texas, March 11, 2007 - ETS-Lindgren announced the release of the AMS-8050, a new wireless antenna measurement lab that rolls on wheels. Although compact in size, the AMS-8050 performs like larger chambers and can be used for design validation, pre-certification testing, and performance measurement. A comparison of measurements taken in the AMS-8050 and full-compliance chambers shows good agreement.
Dr. Michael Foegelle, Director of Technology Development at ETS-Lindgren and a member the CTIA 802.11 WPP committee, was a key contributor in the development of the AMS-8050 System. Dr. Foegelle commented, “Basically, we created an antenna range you can roll into your lab.” He continued, “Despite the compact size, you can make the key measurements for testing a wireless device like total radiated power (TRP), effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), total isotropic sensitivity (TIS), effective isotropic sensitivity (EIS) and more.” Dr. Foegelle added, “When you use our EMQuest™ software (included), you can see your measurement results as vivid 2-D or 3-D plots.”
The AMS-8050 includes the RF absorber lined enclosure with RF sealing door, automated multi-axis positioner and controller, EMQuest™ EMQ-100 software, operational training video, dual polarized antenna (700 MHz – 6 GHz), basic setup and calibration, plus a basic equipment driver selection, power filers, cables, etc. Options include a SAM Phantom head, a mount for devices like laptops, an internal camera, and additional equipment drivers.
ETS-Lindgren designed and built the systems used in the first CTIA authorized CATL (CTIA Approved Test Lab) for Part 2 Over The Air testing. Today, approximately 75% of all CATL’s use ETS-Lindgren test systems. The AMS-8050 was designed and built with much of same technology, methods and materials as ETS-Lindgren's full compliance systems.
