CEDAR PARK, TX – June 16, 2008 ETS-Lindgren will host a workshop titled "Advances in Antenna and Wireless Test and Measurement" in cooperation with Antenna Systems and Technology (AST) on September 24, 2008, the day before the AST annual conference in Austin, Texas. Held at ETS-Lindgren's manufacturing and antenna lab facility in nearby Cedar Park, the workshop's technical program will be of a practical nature and application oriented with supporting theory provided. Topics include antenna design and usage, wireless testing methods available and rationale, as well as future trends for antenna and wireless technologies. Hands-on demonstrations of the material presented are a unique component of the workshop to provide a "real-time" learning experience.
Workshop speakers include noted experts in the antenna and wireless communities, including Dr. Warren Stutzman of Virginia Tech, past president of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and co-author of the well-regarded book, Antenna Theory and Design. ETS-Lindgren speakers include Dr. Vince Rodriguez, Senior Principal Antenna Design Engineer, and Jari Vikstedt, Principal RF Engineer. Schedule permitting, Dr. John Norgard of the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, will share his novel work as a research scientist on a unique method using antennas for IR thermal images of EM fields. ETS-Lindgren is proud to collaborate on the technical program with IEEE Fellows, Drs. Stutzman and Norgard.
ETS-Lindgren has numerous “firsts” to its credit in wireless testing – including designing and installing the world's first WiMAX Forum™ Designated Certification Laboratory as well as the world's first system for performing CTIA Part 2 Over the Air (OTA) performance testing. Workshop attendees will witness actual wireless testing to learn how performance verification of wireless devices is achieved. They will also tour ETS-Lindgren's ISO 17205 certified open area test site and A2LA-accredited lab to learn how antennas are built, why specific designs are better than others, how to calibrate antennas and verify performance, and how to select the right antenna for the application - and more! Attendees may also tour the NVLAP accredited acoustics lab.
