EURA, Finland, September 12, 2008 - ETS-Lindgren announced the completion of a semi-anechoic chamber at Airbus in Hamburg, Germany. Valued at over 500,000 Euro, the large chamber measures 12 m (39 ft) x 6.7 m (22 ft) x 6.5 m (21 ft) and features an 8 m (26 ft) x 4 m (13 ft) x 2.9 m (9 ft) control room. The chamber will be used primarily for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing of electrical and electronic components and systems in the aircraft industry. The new indoor, in house test environment ensures round the clock test capabilities.
Constructed of ETS-Lindgren's popular pan type shielded panels, the chamber includes a pneumatically operated 2 m (6.5 ft) x 2 m (6.5 ft) RF shielded sliding door with automatic push button open/closure, a 1 m (3 ft) x 2 m (6.5 ft) manually operated RF shielded personnel door, the Model 4430 high performance shielded digital camera system (CCTV), and FerroSorb™ 400 hybrid anechoic material on all walls and ceiling. Removable absorber panels are available for the floor.
The chamber also features a three meter diameter turntable, RTCA/DO-160 test table, power and lighting, a fire detection system, ventilation, and connector panels customized with feed thru connectors to facilitate the user's specific equipment needs. Airbus engineers requested a turnkey chamber project that when completed required a simple flick of the light switch to begin testing.
The chamber is designed to meet the shielding performance requirements of MIL-STD-461E, RTCA/DO-160E, IEC 61000.4.3-2006, and CISPR-16-1-4 Ed 2 with a two meter diameter quiet zone. Following installation by ETS-Lindgren, a third party accredited lab, ARC Seibersdorf, verified the shielding performance of the chamber to these standards.
