New LED Lighting for EMC, Microwave, and Acoustic Chambers

RF Noise-Free Lights are Ideal for New and Retrofit Construction

CEDAR PARK, Texas, September 7, 2010 – ETS-Lindgren introduced a convenient, cost-effective lighting solution. New high power, LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights are now available for use in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), Microwave and Acoustic chambers. The specialty RF shielded lights are notable for their lack of audible RF noise and flickering during operation, reduced energy consumption and 50,000+ hours of life. The extended operational life greatly reduces the need for costly replacement of lamps, often associated with other types of lighting. In addition, these solid state lights are high shock and vibration resistant. ETS-Lindgren created the new LED lights using a patented heat sink and optical diffuser to enhance the lighting produced. The lights are ideal for use in both new and retrofit construction.

With its decades of experience in the design and installation of EMC, Microwave and Acoustic chambers, ETS-Lindgren realized the benefit of applying LED lighting technology to new and existing chambers. “RF noise and flickering have long been an issue with lights in RF shielded chambers, whether they are EMC, Microwave or Acoustic,” said Tom Woods, ETS-Lindgren’s Vice-President, Test and Measurement. “Now, with the LED lights, the risk of adverse effects lighting may have on the quality of testing performed in these chambers is all but eliminated. Plus, the quick on/off feature of these lights allow for almost immediate operation, with only a two or three second start-up. That’s a huge improvement over conventional chamber lighting,” he added.

A low-cost, maintenance-free lighting solution, the LED lights have a longer life in comparison to standard incandescent and fluores¬cent bulbs. They are mercury-free and offer energy consumption savings greater than 50%, resulting in operational cost savings and longer lamp life.
