LED Lighting for MRI Chambers – Now Available in Europe

RF Noise-Free Lights are Ideal for New and Retrofit Construction

CEDAR PARK, Texas, September 7, 2010 – ETS-Lindgren announced the success of a specialty lighting project - the first of its kind in Europe - for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) suite. The company installed its innovative Model Med-Vizion ZXR LED down lights at Rotherham General Hospital in Rotherham, England. The Med-Vizion ZXR LED down light uses LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting technology to provide RF noise-free down light illumination and NEVER needs replacement.

Designed specifically for use in MRI facilities, the lights offer noise-free operation and nonferrous construction to provide optimal illumination at task and floor levels. The RF noise-free light eliminates the risk of any interference impacting the quality of the MRI imaging, while its long, maintenance-free life eliminates costly delays due to down time for service and replacement of conventional lighting. The Med-Vizion ZXR LED down light is ideal for any new or existing MRI facility.

“We are very happy with our new LED lights from ETS-Lindgren,” said Richard Gillott, MRI Superintendent Radiographer with Rotherham General Hospital. “Prior to the installation of the LED lighting system, we were changing at least one filament light bulb a week - equating to one lost examination slot per week. Over time, that significantly impacts patient through-put. Having had the benefits of the new system for one year now, I don't know how we managed before with the traditional lighting setup. I would have no hesitation in installing the system into any additional facility we may develop in the future,” he added.

The Med-Vizion ZXR LED down light provides the equivalent of 150 watts or 1,517 lumens. Only one 120 or 240 VAC circuit is needed for the entire system. The optional dimmer to enhance patient comfort will support up to sixteen LED fixtures and has a low voltage plug and play interface. Lamp lifetime is approximately 80,000 hours. Standard warranty is three years.
