Cedar Park, Texas, April 16, 2007 – What do ETS-Lindgren, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the Austin Independent School District (AISD), and the Austin Area Urban League (AAUL) all have in common? In addition to sharing a common base in Austin, the "Live Music Capital of the World," these organizations share a commitment to training and educating young individuals who aspire to become accomplished musicians, but who may not have the financial means to pursue this goal. Now, thanks to the generous support of these organizations, promising musicians are closer to realizing their dreams with the recent opening of the AMD Music and Arts Institute at Austin Area Urban League.
AMD provided not only a significant financial investment to get the project off the ground, but contributed its cutting edge AMD64 technology. Popularized by the entertainment industry in such films as "Pirates of the Caribbean," this technology will expose students to the budding field of digital media and entertainment. ETS-Lindgren provided three state-of-the-art acoustic chambers for top-notch acoustic performance and professional studio recording capabilities. ASID will support and monitor the link between music education and students doing well academically in school while AAUL will provide the hands-on education for future musicians, composers and producers.
Bryan Sayler, Sr. V.P. and General Manager at ETS-Lindgren, proudly supported this joint effort to bring musical education to the area’s disadvantaged youth. "As a corporation, ETS-Lindgren is committed to advancing engineering technology globally. To contribute our acoustic capabilities to this institute and local students who would not otherwise have this education is a win-win for the company and Austin." Added Larry Davis, AAUL Board Chairperson, "This is a prime example of the positive things that can happen when the community, the corporate sector and organization leaders join together to invest in our future. We are poised for great outcomes with the music institute." Surely this is music to all ears!
