GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Illinois, September 11, 2008- ETS-Lindgren has installed its first U.S.-made RF shielded pan form enclosure, also known as the Series101 enclosure, at a Honeywell facility in Kansas City, Missouri. Previously, the Series101 type enclosure was made at ETS-Lindgren’s European manufacturing facilities in Finland and shipped to the United States. These rooms feature modular, hot galvanized rigid steel structural panels and use no wooden parts. No special tools or welding are necessary during the installation and no maintenance is needed after the installation. The panels can be bolted from the inside or the outside and rooms can be dismantled and reinstalled, enlarged or modified per the panel system.
The Honeywell enclosure will be used to house their welding department, which was causing interference with nearby electronics. This specialized project required that all components for the room be metallic due to the fire hazard from the sparks created by the welding equipment. The components include bent 14-gauge galvanized steel wall, floor, and ceiling panels fastened together with nuts and bolts and a mesh gasket at all seams to maintain the RF seal. Also included are flat 14-gauge galvanized steel sheets fastened to the bent floor panels for a smooth surface. Sound absorbers were installed to combat the reverberation of the welding equipment being used inside the enclosure. “ETS-Lindgren is excited to offer this RF shielding technology from the United States” says Mike Egan, Product Line Manager for Industrial and Government at ETS-Lindgren. He added,” The modular structure allows for very flexible adaptation to the customer's needs and requirements. Because only the distance of holes and increments in the outer dimensions and the panel joint are standardized, pan form shielding is not limited to the use of only a few standard size panels.
