Superior Performance Confirmed by Independent Test Laboratory
CEDAR PARK, Texas, July 11, 2011 – ETS-Lindgren announced a new series of multi-purpose radio frequency (RF) power line filters designed to meet point-of-entry requirements of MIL-STD-188-125-1 and -2 for defense and commercial applications. The new Model LRX-EMP filters not only provide protection against electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP), but offer superior insertion loss performance of 100 dB from 14 kHz to 40 GHz – at full load. This provides better attenuation performance for electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio frequency interference (RFI), high intensity radiated fields (HIRF) and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) requirements. The new filters are now available with ratings of 277/480 VAC from 30 to 400 amperes, as single or dual circuit individual filters. Multiple line filters are available in panels for three phase power requirements, with three or four filtered lines.
“ETS-Lindgren’s new power line filters offer proven 100 dB of attenuation from 14 kHz to 40 GHz in addition to providing EMP and HEMP protection. This is critical when a filter is used in a secure environment where protection against electromagnetic pulse is essential, not a ‘nice to have’ feature,” noted Sergio Longoria, Senior Filters Engineer for ETS-Lindgren. “While other filter manufacturers offer 80 dB of attenuation over a reduced range such as 10 MHz to 1 GHz, our customers demanded better performance. We worked hard to design a new, robust line of filters and confirmed actual performance at an independent test laboratory. Customers may be assured the new Model LRX-EMP filters include the same high quality design features they have long come to expect from the company’s popular, commercial RF filters. These design features include use of a high frequency feed-through capacitor to provide better high frequency response as well as oversized inductors for low loss and low temperature rise, resulting in extended filter life. Filter life is further extended by using self-healing capacitors. In addition, suppression elements are used to protect the filter, as well as the connected equipment, by absorbing and diverting power to ground. For HEMP protection, Model LRX-EMP filters are fitted with high transient suppressors in front of an internal inductive input circuit. This feature results in very low residual currents during an HEMP pulse, providing further protection to the connected equipment.
All Model LRX-EMP filters feature excellent multi-stage performance and meet or exceed the requirements and safety criteria of MIL-STD-188-125-1 and -2, MIL-F-15733, MIL-STD-220C, UL 1283, IEC 60939, and LVD (2006/95/EC). Custom designs are available upon request. Standard warranty is two years.
