Addressing the Growing Threat of EMP/HEMP/IEMI and Geomagnetic Storms on Critical IT, Telecom and Utility Infrastructures

CEDAR PARK, Texas, October 7, 2014 – ETS-Lindgren’s Mr. Michael Caruso, Director, Government & Specialty Business Development, will present “Protecting Data Centers Against Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) and High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP)” during an executive briefing held at the offices of Cyber Innovation Labs (CIL), located in the greater Chicago area. Designed to educate attendees on the growing threat of EMP, HEMP, IEMI and Geomagnetic Storms (GMS) on data centers, the executive briefing includes a full-day technical program, lunch and a tour of an EMP protected data center under construction. Attendees will see how shielding protection is integrated into a data center facility to mitigate EMP/HEMP/IEMI/GMS threats, whether a new or existing facility. The briefing is organized by EMP Grid Services, a consortium of industry-leading advanced engineering and data-center centric design/build specialists who have delivered over 10 million square feet of premier global enterprise data center facilities and represent over $1.4 billion in annual revenues.

The technical program begins with an overview of InfraGard by Mr. Paul Sand, President of the InfraGard Chicago Chapter. InfraGard is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the private sector. As an association of persons representing businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants, InfaGard is dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the U.S. Other speakers on the program include “EMP – The Triple Threat to Critical Infrastructure” by Dr. William Radasky, President of Metatech; “EMP Fortune 500 Case Study” by Mr. Piyush Singh, CIO of Great American Insurance Co.; and “Critical IT Infrastructure Assessment, Mitigation and Planning” by Mr. Jack Pressman, Managing Director of EMP GRID/ Cyber Innovation Labs.
