Electromagnetics R&D Lead Up to Major Symposium in Memphis
CEDAR PARK, Texas, August 23, 2013 - ETS-Lindgren, a leading manufacturer of systems and components for RF test, donated antennas and an RF shielded room to the Center of Applied Electromagnetics Systems Research (CAESR) at “Ole Miss”, the University of Mississippi. CAESR provides students with advanced facilities for electromagnetics (EM) simulations and experimental research in antennas, RFID, as well as microwave circuits and systems. ETS-Lindgren’s donation included several prototype antennas with extended performance and a balanced precision dipole antenna. The RF shielded room is used for performing measurements without any interference from outside EM fields up to 18 GHz.
Dr. Vince Rodriguez, Antenna Product Manager for ETS-Lindgren and alumni of the University of Mississippi, noted, “In addition to donating products, we also shared our expertise. For example, our presentation on shielded rooms helped the students understand how to estimate the necessary anechoic absorber needed to line their shielded room for optimal performance. It was a great experience sharing our knowledge with the students and donating equipment that would help them prepare for their future.”
CAESR is led by Professor Atef Elsherbeni, Associate Dean of Engineering for Research and Graduate Programs. In addition to his work at CAESR, Dr. Elsherbeni is general chairman of the 2014 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI National Radio Science Meeting at the Memphis Convention Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
